Our Story
Founded at the beginning of 2026, Late Studio is a Cape Town–based art studio driven by a deep appreciation for both fine art and interior design. Led by creative director Annamarie Lategan, the studio was born from a simple but meaningful idea: to create artworks that not only stand on their own as compelling visual pieces, but also live harmoniously within thoughtfully designed interior spaces.
At Late Studio, we are inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, and the atmosphere of South Africa. Our work seeks to capture more than just visual likeness—we aim to evoke a sense of place. Whether it is the stillness of an open landscape, the presence of wildlife, or the shifting tones of natural light, each piece is created to carry a quiet sense of nostalgia and familiarity. Our hope is that our artworks reconnect viewers with moments, memories, and emotions tied to the natural world.
Mediums and Artstyle
We currently specialise in acrylic on canvas paintings, offering both original works and commissioned pieces. Each artwork is carefully developed with attention to composition, colour, and texture, ensuring a refined and lasting result. Clients have the option to request framing, allowing each piece to be tailored to its intended space. Our original works often carry an impressionistic quality, balancing detail with expressive mark-making to create pieces that feel both contemporary and timeless.
Looking ahead, Late Studio aims to expand beyond its current offerings. We envision introducing new styles, mediums, and a broader range of art and interior-focused collections, while remaining grounded in our commitment to quality and thoughtful design.
Artist and Art director
Annamarie Lategan (b. 2001), the artist and art director behind Late Studio, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cape Town. She graduated with distinction from the Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2024, majoring in sculpture and printmaking, and was awarded the Simon Gerson Prize in the same year. Alongside her role at the studio, she continues to develop her own body of work, extending her investigation into the strangeness and complexity of contemporary life.
